Success Stories

Helping Students Achieve

The Foundation also funds the My Achievement Centers (MACs) at Lawrence Central and Lawrence North High Schools since 2005. Established to help students succeed by providing technology and tutoring services from caring adults in a quiet study environment during the school day, MACs averaged almost 200 visits per day during 2011-2012.

It is important to note that our students are grateful recipients of the generosity of our benefactors who support this programming.  Many students would have no resources for help if it were not for the MAC.  The following quotes are from some of our students who have been using the My Achievement Center with success this year:

The MAC Center is a great help to me in my Geometry class. Ms. Aman helps me with my notes so that I can refer back to them before test and quizzes. I appreciate all the tutors for all their help.

Darrian Reese, Junior

Coming into the MAC helped me a lot I my math class. My overall grade in my math class has improved since working with the tutors there. The MAC is a great way to help students like me to improve in their studies.

Alexis Jeffries, Senior

Before I started at LC in early November, my grades were excellent, but coming into a new school and learning a different way, things were kind of difficult and my grades were slipping. As it got further into the year I began to go to the MAC. The staff there helped me out tremendously. They really explained the problems to me in a way that was better than what I was being taught. Looking at my quizzes and test from earlier in the year to now, I am very happy that I was able to come to the MAC and improve my grades.
