Depression Great Depression, concentrating on character values of courage and
perseverance, critical thinking, reading and writing skills.  Funding will
purchase 55 copies of Bud, Not Buddy, by Christopher Paul Curtis.
01-302 The Bearcat Club FCV Kimberly Payne- $550.00 For the purchase of supplies, games, sports equipment, etc., to be utilized
Shearer in a weekly, extra curricular, activity.  The primary purpose of the club is to
encourage more student involvement and connection with Fall Creek Valley.
01-303 Closing the Writing Gap BP Margaret Harbron $739.86 To provide funding for the purchase of 3 Alpha Smart computer
With Technology companions which allow students to enter and edit text, then download
to a computer for printing.  These can be used as a writing tool for all
student but will be targeted to students with dyslexia, dysgraphia or fine
motor skills challenges.

01-304 Improving Spelling, OAK Gina Russel $125.00 A project utilizing Franklin Spelling Ace with Thesaurus electronic
Reading, and Vocabulary Delores Johnson spelling organizers with goals of improving spelling, vocabulary, reading

01-307 Learning to Love Literature: OAK Meghan Alexis $316.00 A book club created to enrich the reading skills of accelerated students.
A Fourth Grade Book Club Megan Wain The goals include covering the 4th grade standards in more depth and at a
faster pace.  Students will prepare written summaries and discussion
questions for each club session.  Funds to be used to purchase eight 
sets of ten trade books.
01-308 Kindergarten Literacy FG Judy Canfield $375.00 Funding for the purchase of big books, companion student books and
tapes.  Literacy choices will be improved.  Goals include increased
student enthusiasm and motivation along with success in reading
and writing.

01-309 The Great Camping CV Kim Beal $735.81 A request for funds to purchase basic camping equipment.  The new
Adventure equipment will supplement existing equipment (donated, borrowed,
personally owned).  Ms. Beal's current 4th grade class will participate
in her fifth year of student camping adventures.
01-311 Flamenco, ole! LC Cheryl Rich $500.00 A program for fourth year Spanish students.  Designed to complement
a Flamenco company's performance at Clowes Hall that students will be
attending at their own expense.  This funding will  provide for a historical
perspective of how this dance became a major force and a personal
performance by an Indiana expert, Faten Munger.

01-400 Techworks, by Teacher HH Debbie Martin $2,000.00 To fund the purchase of a software program that integrates technology
Created Materials skills into the general curriculum of grade levels 1 through 5.  The goal is the
simultaneous teaching of computer skills and integration of state
standards in the classroom appropriate for each grade level.

01-401 Keyboard Lending Library FCV Sher Dobie $1,000.00 A proposal to fund a project of developing a lending library of portable
word processors specifically for the use of 210 special needs students . 
The keyboards will be utilized for writing assignments, homework and
taking notes in the classroom as well as enabling the students to become
technologically literate.
01-402 Outdoor Lab FCV Wayne Naylor $1,800.00 To fund a project to revitalize the Outdoor Investigation Laboratory.
Improvements Learning stations will be created for bug counting, compass and topo map
reading, leaf identification, geometry exercises, bluebird monitoring, a
compost bin and others.  7th grade students will become experts and will
teach lessons to 6th grade students.
01-403 Abundant Books for FG Nancy Printz $500.00 For the purchase of beginning level Spanish and English language books
Diverse Readers Michelle Recio to be utilized for daily independent reading.

01-404 Accelerated Math FCV Jeff Harker $895.00 To fund the purchase of a math software program that is aligned with the
current curriculum.  Time saved in grading and recording can be spent
teaching students.  More individual time can be spent with each student,
whether he/she be struggling, average or gifted.

students whose parents are involved in the program.
01-407 Our 5th Block SS Katie Rawson $2,000.00 For 2nd grade level training in MEBA (Mathematics Experience - Based
Jill Siktberg Approach).  A well structured staff development program.  Funding will be
utilized for a day of training for all 2nd grade teachers and two additional
half-day training sessions for the project directors.

01-408 Meeting the Standards in LN David Dick $2,000.00 A proposal for funding the purchase of updated curriculum materials for
the Lawrence Township use in the D. Keith Shafer Planetarium.  Funding will be used to purchase
Planetarium software programs that will be compatible with future equipment upgrades
and additions needed to bring the facility up to current standards.
01-412 Student Inspired LN Leo Jansen (Student) $500.00 Funding to assist this newly formed foundation move forward in it's
Leadership Caring Will Ellery proposed, school based, fund raising programs, including canned food
Brett Crousore drives, volunteer work and  winter clothing drive.  The foundation goals
and by-laws are clearly defined and well structured.
01-414 Keyboards In The Music IC Kimberly Hicks $1,349.73 A new program created to reinforce music concepts taught in grades one
Class - The Route To through five.  27 small electronic keyboards will be purchased for use in a
Musical Excellence well planned project designed to increase music literacy.
01-415 Student DVD Project IC Mark Gibson $2,000.00 A proposal involving hands-on, student led, projects involving multimedia
Development recording of Indian Creek's renovation.  Innovative media technologies will
allow students to develop a wide range of computer skills and utilize these
skills to create multiple content area projects which will be presented
during the Media Fair.  Funding will be used to purchase a DVD burner and
DVD software.
01-416 Hands-on Nature Activity FG Dave Shafer $804.40 A project that will use well-thought activities and hand-on kits to motivate
Kits across the Curriculum and excite students in grades 1 - 5.  Funding will pay for kits which include
background information, guidebooks and durable materials.  Kits include bat
study, animal tracking, observations and journalizing, allowing students to
"do" science instead of just reading about it.

01-417 Biliteracy Matters FG Trish Morita $1,000.00 A program addressing needs of 82 limited English proficient students.  This
Hilda Vazquez proposal , through the use of funded, native language books and tapes, will
involve ESOL (English to Speakers of Other Languages) parents with their
child's reading, strengthening the child's literacy in his/her native language.

01-418 Viernes Latino - FG Liliana Nunez $1,000.00 To fund an enrichment program for 135 Spanish Immersion students and 35
Latin American Friday Manuel Vega ENL (English as a New Language) grades 3 - 5 students.  One Friday evening
Pamela Valdes a month the students gather at Forest Glen for special social activities
conducted in Spanish.  Allows ENL students to interact with students of
the Spanish Immersion program.
01-419 Hoosier Heritage Science FG Sandy Nering $1,000.00 A proposal that connects three main studies of Indiana history with science
Solange Cortes-Vega concepts such as simple machines, the political and social processes, 
Jane Drake weather and agriculture.  Hands-on learning and simulations are designed
Jeff Hewitt to motivate students.

01-421 Improved Reading through FG Victoria Rhodes $1,000.00 A reading program with the primary goal of raising the reading level of 5th
Literature Circles graders one grade level.  Funding is to purchase text sets, a group of
different books related to theme, author or genre.

01-425 Ready to Learn About IC Linda Bell $760.00 A request for funding for a parent training program in the area of conflict.
Conflict Angela Lupton After positive feedback from their pilot program, the project directors
intend to repeat the program, with enhancements requested by the previous
participants.  Parents felt more capable of handling conflict and teaching
positive resolution skills to their children.
