          skills.  Funding will be used to purchase various genres of text and
          educational technology tools.  
             
02-102 Creating a Reggio Emilia CK-N Erin Sughrue $748.76 A  project with the goal of creating an environment based on the
  Environment       teachings of Reggio Emilia, Italy.  This grant will fund the purchase of
          numerous small, child size tools, hardware and art supplies.  Children 
          will use these in exploring their interests, discovering their own strengths
          and talents.  
             
02-104 Write On! SS Liz Terando $733.00 The goal of this proposal is to improve student writing through editing
          and revising their rough drafts.  Appropriate books on writing, editing and
          revising along with plastic sun visors, highlighter pens and red pencils
          will be purchased with the funding granted for this project.  
             
02-105 Literacy FG Kathy Tappy $500.00 A funding request for specifically selected, age and ability appropriate, books
          and books on tape.  The goal is, through the use of high interest literature, to
          bring each student to grade level, or above, in decoding and comprehension.

02-106 Mobile Equal Access FCV Kayla M. Russick $222.14 Grant will purchase a mobile cart to carry a closed caption TV previously
  to All Via Captioned TV       donated by Special Services and a VCR donated by Fall Creek Valley.  To be
          used in the general classrooms for the benefit of deaf and hard of hearing
          students as well as ESOL students.  
             
02-107 Enhancing the Resource FCV Marla Gee $750.00 To purchase educational software, magazines, books, videos and board
  Room       games to expand the resource room's potential to provide students with
          self-initiated activities.  These hands-on manipulatives will assist special
          education students in building critical thinking skills.  
             
02-108 "Star Writers" ST Cheryl Howell $250.00 A proposal for the funding of the purchase of Alpha Smart portable word
      Stephanie Lutin   processors.  The goal is to help 3rd, 4th and 5th grade learning disabled
          students more easily manage written language assignments and projects.

02-112 Improving Immersion FG Mabel Ramos $750.00 A proposal to set up a library of bilingual books in the 2nd grade Spanish
  Classroom Literacy by       Immersion classroom.  The books, narrated in both English and Spanish,

02-113 Special Education LN Hillary Pyle $250.00 To purchase appropriate level dictionaries, reading material and classic

02-114 Return to the Moon FG Dave Shafer $750.00 Funding that will allow up to 72 5th grade students participate in a "space
          mission" at the Challenger Learing Center in Brownsburg.  Activities
          leading up to the mission, the mission itself and post-mission are multi-
          disciplinary, involve teamwork and communications, creative and critical
          thinking, and responsible decision making.

02-115 "Two Left Feet" BELZ Cynthia Jones $650.00 Funding of a proposed grant which will provide an opportunity for Cynthia
          Jones to attend Showchoir Camps of America.  During this weeklong
          professional development activity Mrs. Jones will learn music, dance and
          stagecraft instructional tools that will be incorporated into Belzer's
          performing arts curriculum.  
          This PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT GRANT PROPOSAL meets the criteria
          of the Foundation's new Alignment pertaining to Professional Development
          funding.  The Grants Committee recommends that the funding of this proposal
          be moved from the Grants budget to the Professional Development budget.

02-201 English 9: LN Rebecca Cash $750.00 A proposal that will allow eight freshman English teachers, the
  4MATION Live Text       department head and principal to access the 4MATION Live Text web site.
          The web site will enable teachers to collaborate on curriculum and specific
          lesson plans.  All the English teachers will share instructional ideas to come
          up with the best strategies.  Most will attend a Tech Prep Conference,
          discussing a better integrated approach, and will begin imputing lesson 
          plans into the 4MATION site.  
             
02-202 Reading Renaissance for BP Jamie D. Strebing $3,400.00 Funding 40 participants from Brook Park, Amy Beverland, Harrison Hill,
  Student Success HH Angela Thatcher   Sunnyside and Forest Glen Elementary Schools to attend an INTRODUCTION
          TO READING RENAISSANCE WORKSHOP, to provide training for the use of
          previously purchased STAR READING, ACCELERATED READER and STAR
          EARLY LITERACY software programs.  Once the "core group" in each
          building is trained, they will then train and support their colleagues.
          This PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT GRANT PROPOSAL meets the criteria
          of the Foundation's new Alignment pertaining to Professional Development
          funding.  The Grants Committee recommends that the funding of this proposal
          be moved from the Grants budget to the Professional Development budget.
             
02-203 Crestview Bio-Cart CV Susan Watson $1,000.00 A proposal requesting funding for establishing a biography library to assist
          in teaching students to learn to read non-fictional informational text.  The
          goal of this project is to create a "movable" library of 36 leveled sets of high-
          interest, varied readability biographies, with focus on Americans of many
          backgrounds who have made a contribution to the heritage of this country.

02-205 From Story to Stage   James Leagre $2,000.00 To fund a theater arts program.  This after-school curriculum will allow
    CMS Marilyn Slemenda (Parent) students to create and perform their own original play, doing everything
          from script writing, set design, directing and acting.  Theater professionals
          will teach each aspect of production as students practice teamwork,
          responsibility, perseverance and creative expression.  
             
02-208 Extending Bilingual Leveled FG Lisa Collins $1,000.00 A funding request for the purpose of expanding the 2nd grade classrooms'
  Library Collections across   Carol Ensminger   bilingual libraries.  The purchase of multiple copies of English and
  Grade Levels       Spanish titles will extend a successful, in-place, literacy program to include
          the entire primary population of 375 students.

02-209 Staying in Touch: FCV Jill Rusk $1,000.00 The goal of this proposal is to facilitate social interaction of children with

          Funding will provide scheduling, ticket purchase and transportation to
          "events" with "peers" from each of the three middle schools.

          using the same program.

02-211 Magnifying Our World CMS Barbara Diehl $1,400.00 To fund the purchase of stereo microscopes for instructional demonstration
          and student use.  Stereo microscopes allows the magnification of three
          dimensional objects that can't be placed on a slide and viewed, such as parts
          of a flower, bacterial growth, rocks and minerals, crystal shapes, insects
          and organisms in water.

02-212 Accelerated Math BELZ Chris Brown $2,000.00 A request to participate in the funding of Star Math and Accelerated Math
  Technology   Amy McDowell   Software, which provides a computer generated, individualized math  
          program that will enhance traditional math instruction.  Students coming into
          Belzer will be able to continue the same individualized math instruction
          that has previously been successfully implemented in some of the
          elementary schools.

02-213 Students Helping Students BELZ Jerry Hammes $1,600.00 The purpose of this proposal is to enhance and improve the existing
          after-school Peer tutoring program to improve student achievement. 
          Funding will provide training and certification for administrators, tutor
          trainers and tutors.  
             
02-214 WE CAN HANDLE IT IC Gina Apple $1,500.00 Recognizing that the same character issues being dealt with at school are
  TOGETHER: Character-       also issues at home, this proposal will offer parents resources that will be
  Based Teachable Moments       helpful in their dealing with such issues.  A lending library will include
          multicultural literature to assist parents in teaching a child how to emphasize
          with others, analyze situations, solve problems and make the right choices.

02-215 A Cutting Edge Curriculum OAK Jack Monninger $1,600.00 A proposal with the purpose of strengthening and expanding the art
          program's capability.  Funding will purchase a hand-operated printmaking
          press, miniature model skeletons and anatomy molds (for life / figure
          drawing and painting), and updated instructional materials to support the
          study of art history.

02-216 Cuddle Up and Read IC Tamara Sarbinoff $1,200.00 A program designed to encourage 1st grade parents to spend time reading
      Celestine Bloomfield   to their children on a regular basis.  The goal is for parents to establish both
          a regular reading time and reading place and continue the practice
          throughout childhood.  Eight classroom sets of books showing courage,
          perseverance and other positive character traits, that can be discussed
          and reinforced by parents, will be purchased.

02-217 Freshman Orientation LC Barbara Brouwer $1,500.00 Funding to establish a freshman orientation/mentoring program.  After a
      Laura Reysz   detailed orientation with the incoming freshmen, planned and executed by
          upperclassmen, the upperclassmen become mentors.  Through monthly
          meetings with planned activities, the mentors assist with the high school
          acclimation process.  The goal is for the freshmen to become more involved
          in school activities and develop a sense of belonging.  The initial training will
          be done in the "Freshman Solutions" program implemented by Lee Lonzo
          Enterprises.
